It is difficult to beat the flavor of fresh fruit. The variety of tastes and textures is almost endless. Typically gardeners in our area think mostly in terms of vegetables for their garden, but they are missing out on some best that their garden has to offer. Nothing is better than to be out in the garden and to pop a few fresh berries in your mouth as you tend to your plants!
Berries are one of the traditional ingredients in jams, jellies, preserves, and pies. Being able to share a jar of jam or jelly made with berries from your garden with someone long after harvest is special and a welcomed gift. Opening a package of frozen fruit from your garden will be a great flavor treat in the middle of winter. Fruit to eat fresh, some to freeze, some for jams & jellies, and a pie or two; the options are many. Be sure to plan ahead when you consider fruits and berries as a part of your garden.
